Governor Natembeya Assures Flood Victims of Continued Support During Relief Visit
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting families affected by floods after visiting displaced residents in Bungoma B, Kwanza Sub-County, on Saturday morning.
The Governor, who toured the affected areas to assess the situation firsthand, said the county government was working to ensure that all victims received timely humanitarian assistance.
“This morning, I visited families affected by floods in Bungoma B, Kwanza Sub-County, to assess their situation firsthand and offer support,” Governor Natembeya said. “We provided essential food and non-food items to help cushion them during this difficult period.”
During the visit, Governor Natembeya distributed relief food, blankets, clothing, and hygiene supplies to households that had been displaced or whose property had been destroyed by heavy rains.
He expressed concern over the growing impact of flooding across parts of Trans Nzoia and emphasized the need for sustainable flood mitigation measures, including improved drainage systems, relocation of residents from flood-prone zones, and enhanced disaster preparedness.
“We must strengthen our disaster response and work together to build long-term resilience for our communities,” the Governor noted. “My administration remains committed to serving the people of Trans Nzoia with dedication, empathy, and unwavering compassion.”
Natembeya also urged residents to remain alert and cooperate with local authorities as rescue and relief operations continue in the affected areas.
County officials from the Departments of Disaster Management, Health, and Public Works accompanied the Governor, assuring residents of continued government support until normalcy is restored.
The floods, triggered by days of heavy rainfall, have displaced several families and disrupted transport and farming activities in parts of Kwanza and Endebess sub-counties, prompting an urgent response from the county government.
Governor Natembeya reaffirmed that the county would continue to monitor the situation closely and provide ongoing relief to ensure no affected family is left behind.
