Fire razes down a church in Njiru in Nairobi
A late-night fire on Sunday left worshippers in shock after a popular church in Njiru, Nairobi, was reduced to ashes in a mysterious blaze that authorities are still investigating. The inferno, which broke out shortly after 11 p.m., destroyed property worth millions and left members of the congregation in tears.
Witnesses said the fire spread rapidly, consuming the structure before firefighters could contain it. “We just saw flames shooting up from the roof,” said a nearby resident. “By the time help came, the entire church was gone.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but locals have begun linking the incident to an ongoing land dispute between the church’s presiding bishop and a prominent businessman in the area.
According to residents, the businessman had accused the bishop of fraudulently acquiring the piece of land on which the church stood. The conflict reportedly escalated over the past few months, with mediation efforts failing.
Sources close to the businessman claim he was devastated after losing the case in unclear circumstances. However, what followed next has left the community whispering. To read more click here
