Eldoret Human Rights Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Applauds President Ruto’s Address to Parliament
Eldoret-based human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has issued an enthusiastic commendation of President William Ruto’s recent address to Parliament, describing the speech as “remarkable, courageous, visionary, and anchored in determination.”
In a statement released after the address, Ngetich said the President’s leadership since taking office had been marked by resilience in the face of what he described as “a difficult national landscape and entrenched economic and political sabotage.”
“The President took over when the country was in total disarray,” Ngetich stated. “He has emerged from the storm, weathered the waves, and brought Kenya this far, contrary to the belief of many.”
Praise for Economic and Social Programs
Ngetich highlighted several government initiatives that he said reflect progress under President Ruto’s administration, citing affordable farm inputs, the affordable housing agenda, expansion of road infrastructure, job creation, and labor export programs.
He also pointed to empowerment efforts targeting youth, women, and small-scale businesses as “key achievements” that he believes have strengthened the country’s economic foundation.
Call for Unity and Collective Responsibility
According to Ngetich, the President’s message underscored the importance of national unity and shared responsibility in building what he termed “a great Kenya.”
“The President has shown an open-door policy for all Kenyans ready to work with him toward a shared vision,” he said.
Ngetich further noted Ruto’s references to Kenya’s engagement on the global stage, saying the country was positioning itself as an active participant in international initiatives.
Collaboration With the Opposition
Ngetich praised what he called the President’s willingness to work with opposition figures, asserting that the formation of a broad-based government had contributed to political stability.
“This approach has united Kenyans and brought progress,” he said.
People-Centered Development and Environmental Stewardship
The activist also welcomed the President’s emphasis on people-centered economic policies, including environmental protection efforts. He cited the recent handover of Amboseli National Park management to the Maa community as a step he believes will benefit local residents and promote inclusive development.
Resilience Amid Challenges
Ngetich acknowledged that the administration has faced significant criticism and challenges but said President Ruto’s determination remains evident.
“He has stood firm, even defending unpopular decisions where necessary for the country’s long-term security and growth,” he said.
He added that the President’s role in maintaining national security and fostering peaceful relations with neighboring countries has created a stable environment for economic activity.
A Leader for the Times, Activist Says
Ngetich described Ruto as a central figure in Kenya’s democratic space, noting what he characterized as the President’s perseverance through political adversity.
“The political dynamics of the current age require a bold and visionary leader,” he said. “Africa needs leaders with courage and innovation.”
Encouragement to Critics
In his statement, Ngetich urged critics of the administration to appreciate the complexities inherent in the presidency.
“There is a difference between theory and practice,” he remarked. “What we are seeing now is practical work aimed at creating an enabling environment for businesspeople, farmers, the private sector, and the youth.”
A Speech “Full of Hope”
Ngetich concluded by describing the parliamentary address as “encouraging, determined, and full of hope,” asserting that it demonstrated the administration’s commitment to Kenya’s long-term transformation.
