Dr. Wanjohi Urges Parents to Instill Good Morals in Children During Holidays

Educationist Hon. Dr. Paul K. Wanjohi, Managing Director of Sharp Education Centre and Junior School, has called on parents to take a leading role in shaping their children’s character during the long December school holiday.

Speaking during the launch of his new book, “The Fruits of Good Discipline,” in Nairobi, Dr. Wanjohi emphasized that moral guidance begins at home and that parents must lead by example.

“Children learn more from what we do than from what we tell them,” he said. “Parents must therefore be intentional in modeling the values they wish to see in their children.”

Dr. Wanjohi cautioned that today’s children face increasing exposure to negative online influences, peer pressure, and risky behaviors. He urged parents to use the festive season as an opportunity to strengthen family bonds through open communication and mentorship.

Founded in 2005, Sharp Education Centre and Junior School, located in Kayole–Komarock, Embakasi, has earned a strong reputation for combining academic excellence with value-based education. The institution continues to champion holistic learning that nurtures both intellect and character.

During a review session of the book, Sir Duncan Arimi, CEO of Gravity CBC Centre, praised Dr. Wanjohi for his lifelong dedication to education and child development.

“Dr. Paul Wanjohi is a book by himself — to be read, studied, and emulated,” said Sir Arimi. “His deep understanding of discipline and child development is evident not only in his writings but in his lifelong service to education and humanity.”

Sir Arimi also commended Dr. Wanjohi’s contributions to national education policy, citing his influential position paper on Mathematics that guided the Ministry of Education in making the subject compulsory in Senior School. Under the new policy, STEM students will study Pure Mathematics, while Social Sciences and Sports pathway learners will take Essential Mathematics.

Education journalists attending the event hailed Dr. Wanjohi as a passionate advocate for children’s rights and quality education. He currently serves as the National Treasurer of the Unified APBET Schools Association of Kenya (UASA) and as National Chairman of the Tunza Mtoto Coalition, an NGO promoting children’s welfare through advocacy and community empowerment.

Described as a “timely gift to the nation,” “The Fruits of Good Discipline” targets readers aged ten years and above, offering relatable lessons on discipline, responsibility, and moral growth. The book has been lauded by parents, teachers, and education stakeholders as an inspiring tool for building a generation of responsible and ethical young citizens.
