Director Sharp School Dr Paul Wanjohi embraces New Education Curriculum

Dr Paul Wanjohi the founder and Director of Sharp School Academy  and the Nation secretary for APBET has thanked Narobi governor Hon Johnson Sakaja for the announcement of implementation of capitation to APBET schools and also urgent students and parents to be more cautious during this long holiday.


Dr Wanjohi had also embraced the transition of Competency-Based Education (CBE), initially known as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) has been a major educational reform in Kenya since its introduction in 2017. 

 

The transition process has involved a fundamental shift away from the exam-heavy, knowledge-based 8-4-4 system to a learner-centered approach that emphasizes skills, values, and competencies.

Innitialy Launched on 2017 the curriculum, then called CBC, was piloted and began its implementation in Pre-Primary and Lower Primary classes, replacing the 8-4-4 system.

  

System Structure: The new system is structured as 2-6-3-3 (2 years Pre-Primary, 6 years Primary, 3 years Junior Secondary School (JSS), 3 years Senior Secondary School (SSS)


It's goal is to nurture every learner's potential by focusing on skills, creativity, critical thinking, and preparing them for the world of work.  

Official Re-branding (2024): The Ministry of Education officially transitioned the name from Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) to Competency-Based Education (CBE) to reflect a broader, more holistic approach to learning and system change, not just curriculum change.
