DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua Defies Police Blockade, Makes Triumphant Entry Into Narok Town

Drama unfolded on the campaign trail Monday after DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua claimed that police issued “clear instructions” to block him and his entourage from accessing Narok Town, where he was scheduled to campaign for DCP’s Narok Ward candidate, Hon. Douglas Masikonde.

In a fiery address following his arrival, Gachagua accused what he described as a “cowardly and brutal regime” of attempting to suppress political activity ahead of the 27th November 2025 by-elections.

According to Gachagua, villagers in Narok helped him and his team navigate through lesser-known village routes to bypass police roadblocks. He described the entry into Narok Town as “triumphant,” claiming he was received by “thousands of jubilant DCP supporters.”

“The people — a people united — are stronger than all roadblocks, than all bullets, than all stones, than all teargas, and stronger than any dictator in the world,” Gachagua told supporters.

“The villagers triumphed, and we have affirmed that the will of the people is supreme.”

He further alleged the use of excessive force by security agencies but insisted that neither “blood money” nor intimidation would deter Kenyans from exercising their democratic rights.

Gachagua thanked the residents of Narok, particularly the youth, for what he termed their resilience and solidarity.

“The will of the people shall never be subverted. Kenya is not your ordinary African country turned into a monarch,” he said.

Police have not issued an immediate response to the allegations.

The by-election in Narok Ward is expected to be highly contested, with political tensions rising as parties intensify their campaigns.
