A multi-agency security team in Kisii County has seized more than 2,000 litres of illicit brews in a coordinated crackdown targeting illegal alcohol networks in the region.
The early-morning raid, conducted in Riangombenene Village within Kiogoro Location, was led jointly by officers from the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and police from Kiogoro Police Station. According to authorities, the operation uncovered 2,000 litres of Kangara—an illicit brew precursor—and 40 litres of the finished product, Chang’aa.
A female suspect found at the scene was arrested and taken to Kiogoro Police Station. Police said the recovered alcohol was secured as evidence and the suspect will be arraigned in court to face charges related to the unlawful production of alcoholic substances.
The National Police Service has reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations targeting the manufacture and distribution of unregulated brews across Kisii Central Sub-County. Officials say more enforcement actions are planned as part of an ongoing nationwide effort to curb illicit alcohol production.
Members of the public have been urged to volunteer information on suspicious brewing activities through emergency lines 999, 911, or 112. Anonymous reports can also be made via the #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800 722 203 or through WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
