Two Arrested in Migori as Police Seize Narcotics and Ilicit Brew in Kehancha Raid

Two suspects have been arrested in Kehancha Town following a successful police raid that led to the recovery of narcotics and illicit liquor, authorities have confirmed.

According to a statement from the National Police Service, officers in Kuria West Sub-County conducted the operation on Thursday, targeting a residential house located near Ladopharma Hospital.

During the raid, a 46-year-old woman was apprehended after police found a black bag in her house containing 179 rolls of cannabis. Officers also seized four packets of Super Match Export cigarettes and Ksh 21,140 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

A second suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was also arrested during the operation. A search of his premises yielded additional quantities of cannabis and a 10-litre jerrican of chang’aa, a potent illicit brew.

Both suspects were taken into custody and are awaiting processing and arraignment in court.

Police have hailed the operation as a significant step in combating the drug and illicit alcohol menace in the region. “The National Police Service commends the swift action by its officers and urges the public to continue sharing timely information to help in the fight against crime,” the statement read.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or use the available toll-free hotlines: 999, 911, 112. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the #FichuaKwaDCI campaign through 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.

This latest crackdown underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug and illicit alcohol networks across the country.
