ODM Members in Uasin Gishu Demand Ouster of Kipkorir Menjo Over Election Irregularities

Pressure is mounting within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Uasin Gishu as party members and youth leaders call for the immediate removal of veteran official Kipkorir Menjo, whom they accuse of masterminding widespread electoral malpractice during the recent party elections.

Speaking during a charged press conference in Eldoret, ODM youth leader aspirant Boaz Bonke led a group of disgruntled members in demanding accountability, accusing Menjo of colluding with rogue officials and external forces to influence the outcome of the grassroots elections.

"This was not an election—it was a coordinated infiltration,” Bonke said. “Menjo has turned ODM into a playground for our political opponents. He must go.”

Bonke and his supporters allege that individuals aligned with the rival United Democratic Alliance (UDA) were allowed to vote, while genuine ODM members were sidelined through manipulated voter registers and bribery of local election officials.

“Non-members voted while loyal ODM members were locked out. This was done under Menjo’s watch—and with his blessing,” claimed Bonke, who has vowed to push for fresh, transparent elections.

ODM Uasin Gishu County Chairman Dr. Kipchumba Kapchoge echoed these sentiments, calling Menjo a “chronic betrayer” who has repeatedly undermined party unity in the Rift Valley for personal gain.

"Menjo has a track record of backroom deals and betrayal. His continued presence in ODM leadership is a threat to our party’s integrity and survival in this region,” said Dr. Kapchoge . He urged the ODM National Executive Council (NEC) to take swift disciplinary action and revoke Menjo’s position.

The aggrieved members further warned that if ODM fails to act, the party risks alienating its base in Uasin Gishu. They insisted that any legitimacy the recently elected officials hold is void due to what they termed a "sham process."

“We are not just making noise—we have submitted evidence. The NEC must nullify the results and send Menjo packing,” Bonke emphasized.

The group concluded by reaffirming their loyalty to the party leader, Raila Odinga, but warned that ODM's democratic values are under siege from within.

"We respect Baba, and he taught us to stand for truth. The truth is, Menjo must step aside if ODM is to survive in Uasin Gishu," Bonke declared.

As pressure builds, all eyes are now on the ODM national leadership to see whether decisive action will be taken or if internal tensions will continue to fester ahead of the 2027 general elections.
