Winnie Jerop Finally Speaks Out on Viral Stage Incident with Vicky Brilliance
Winnie Jerop, the young woman whose actions during MC Ingo Ingo’s anniversary sparked intense debate online, has finally broken her silence. Jerop, who was seen covering singer Vicky Brilliance with a scarf during her stage performance, says her gesture has been twisted into something it was never meant to be.
In an official response, Jerop explained that what unfolded on that day was not an attempt to embarrass or interfere with Vicky’s performance, but rather a genuine act of sisterhood to shield her from humiliation.
“At MC Ingo Ingo’s anniversary, I was seated in the VIP section with leaders, guests, and other women. When Vicky Brilliance walked in, it was obvious that her dress was see-through and her undergarments were visible. People started laughing, pointing, and even attempting to record. As a young woman myself, I could not just sit and watch another sister be humiliated before such a crowd,” Jerop said.
Misinterpretation of Events
Jerop insisted that contrary to some social media claims, she never said Vicky’s dress was “tight.” In fact, she clarified that she herself was dressed casually in a crop top that day, and therefore had no reason to police another woman’s fashion choice.
“The real issue was not tightness — it was transparency,” she stressed. “That’s why, together with other women, I looked for a leso, and when we couldn’t find one, I used my scarf.”
She further explained that before taking any action, she first whispered to Vicky respectfully and asked for her permission. “People should watch the video closely — you can clearly see me talking to her first, and then she even helped me tie the scarf herself,” Jerop noted.
Thanked, Then Accused
Jerop says the most surprising part was that after the performance, both Vicky Brilliance and MC Baba Boys thanked her for stepping in. She even reassured the singer that no one had managed to record the incident, to help her leave the stage with confidence.
“That is why it shocks me now to see her change the story online,” Jerop said, expressing disappointment.
Her frustration deepened after a recent TikTok post in which Vicky Brilliance appeared to respond to claims that Jerop had “used a black leso to steal her nyota” — an accusation that Jerop says amounts to linking her to witchcraft.
“That is the most painful and false accusation,” she said firmly. “I didn’t use a leso at all — it was my own scarf, given out of kindness. Anyone who knows me understands I don’t deal in such things.”
A Friendship Turned Sour
Jerop added that the saga is even more confusing because she and Vicky have been following each other on TikTok since 2023. The two had interacted on each other’s posts, joined challenges, and, until just yesterday, remained connected without any apparent issues.
“If she really had a problem, she could have reached out to me directly. Instead, this has turned into unnecessary drama,” Jerop lamented.
She also reminded critics that Vicky herself admitted to several people on the day of the event that her dress was transparent. “So why twist it now?” she asked.
“Dignity Before Clout”
Closing her statement, Jerop said she stands by her decision, maintaining that her intentions were pure and driven by empathy, not malice.
“I’ll say this one more time — I’d rather be remembered as the woman who covered another sister, than the one who mocked, laughed, or recorded her downfall. Dignity before clout. Always,” she concluded.
The incident has since gone viral across social media platforms, dividing opinion among fans. While some users have praised Jerop’s act as one of solidarity and respect, others have accused her of seeking attention.
