Police Arrest Four Suspected ‘Panga Boys’ Gang Members in Kilifi

Security officers in Kilifi County have arrested four suspected members of the notorious “Panga Boys” gang during an intelligence-led operation in Mtwapa.

According to police reports, the operation was conducted on Thursday evening around 7 p.m. by officers from Mtwapa Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS). The team raided a makeshift structure in the Labour–Mtomondoni area, believed to be a hideout for the gang.

During the raid, four suspects were apprehended, and several crude weapons were recovered, including three pangas and a small slasher. The weapons were secured as exhibits.

The suspects were later escorted to Mtwapa Police Station, where they are being held in custody pending arraignment in court.

Police say the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal gangs that have been terrorizing residents in Mtwapa and its outskirts.

“This operation underscores the commitment of the National Police Service to dismantling organized gangs that continue to threaten public safety,” police said in a statement.

The Service further noted that sustained intelligence-led policing, intensified surveillance, and targeted operations will continue across the Coast region and beyond to ensure peace and security in communities.
