Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has called for urgent government intervention to facilitate the repatriation of the body of Felix Limo, a young man from the Kapchesogor area who passed away while working in Qatar.

Governor Bii issued the appeal on Tuesday evening after visiting the grieving family, who have endured over a month of anguish as they await the return of their son’s remains.

"It is heartbreaking that Felix Limo’s body has remained in Qatar for more than a month. This prolonged delay has only deepened the pain and sorrow of his loved ones," said Governor Bii during his visit.

Felix, who hailed from a family spread across Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties, had traveled to Qatar in search of better opportunities. News of his untimely demise came as a devastating blow to his community.

Governor Bii said he has already reached out to the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Korir Sing’oei, urging the ministry to step in and expedite the repatriation process.

"I have engaged the Principal Secretary and requested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs fast-track this matter with the urgency it deserves. The family deserves closure, and most importantly, the opportunity to accord their son a dignified send-off," he added.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting families affected by such tragedies, especially those involving citizens working abroad.

The Governor's intervention has brought renewed hope to the Kapchesogor family and the broader community, who have been seeking answers and support since the incident occurred.
