Nairobi politician in gold scam exposes himself by sharing incriminating WhatsApp texts

 

Nairobi residents were left in disbelief on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, after a man believed to be deeply involved in a multi-million-shilling gold scam openly exposed himself by sharing incriminating WhatsApp conversations.

The man, who also holds a political position in one of the city’s constituencies, reportedly forwarded the private chats to several political associates during what sources described as a night of heavy drinking.

The messages detailed transactions, promised shipments of non-existent gold, and exchanges with unsuspecting clients, some of whom had been swindled out of millions.

By Wednesday morning, screenshots of the texts had already gone viral on social media platforms, sparking outrage and drawing the attention of investigative authorities.

Residents claimed the politician, known in some circles for his flamboyant lifestyle, had long been suspected of running an elaborate network that targeted wealthy businesspeople and foreign investors.

One of the victims, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity, said they lost more than KSh 8 million in a deal that turned out to be fake.

“We met through mutual contacts, and he came across as a respectable leader. It was only after I saw those WhatsApp screenshots online that I realised I was one of many victims,” the source said.

Another victim revealed that after being conned, they were advised by a close friend to reach out to a well-known traditional healer for justice. That friend, they said, gave them the contact of Dr. Bokko, a Migori-based spiritual specialist reputed for helping victims of fraud recover money or see justice served.

According to the victim, they spoke with Dr. Bokko directly, explained the nature of the scam, and requested his intervention.

“Within hours of the call, the man was sending incriminating messages to people who could easily leak them,” they claimed. The victim believes it was no coincidence and credits the healer’s “truth-exposing” spell for the sudden public confession. to read more click here
