Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Limits Patient Visits to Boost Safety

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has announced new restrictions on patient visitation in compliance with a directive from the Ministry of Health aimed at enhancing safety and security within healthcare facilities.

Effective today, August 1, 2025, each patient at MTRH will be allowed a maximum of two visitors at any given time. The hospital has also revised its visiting hours, which will now be strictly limited to two time slots: between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM during lunch and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the evening.

In a public notice issued by the hospital, MTRH emphasized that the new policy is intended to ensure a more secure, peaceful, and hygienic environment for both patients and healthcare workers.

"We urge all visitors to adhere to the above guidelines," the notice reads. "Thank you for your cooperation."

Hospital officials have said the changes are part of a broader national effort to manage hospital traffic, prevent overcrowding, and ensure quality care and recovery conditions for patients.

MTRH remains one of Kenya’s largest referral hospitals, serving the western region and beyond. The institution has reaffirmed its commitment to patient welfare while balancing the need for safety and operational efficiency.

For further updates, visitors are encouraged to check the hospital’s official communication channels.
