NCA Leads from the Front as Contactors License Renewal Campaign Kicks Off

By John Kariuki

As the National Construction Authority (NCA) launches its 2025 annual practising license renewal window for contractors, the agency continues to win public trust under the steady and strategic leadership of the ministry of lands public works housing and Urban Development and the Authority.

From July 1 to July 31, 2025, all registered contractors are required to renew their annual practising licenses through the NCA’s digital platforms. This process has been significantly streamlined over the years thanks to NCA's digitization agenda and people centered approach.

The Authority has transformed how it engages with contractors and stakeholders, ensuring not only compliance with construction standards but also enhancing transparency and efficiency in its operations. The current campaign, themed *Ume Renew?*, is a creative and relatable reminder that connects directly with the day to day language of Kenyan contractors, underscoring the Authority’s growing responsiveness to its audience.

Through a blend of policy enforcement, strategic communication, and tech driven services, NCA understands both the industry’s needs and the country's development agenda. The campaign is supported by a user friendly online portal at www.nca.go.ke, direct customer care lines, and an active presence on social media platforms. All these initiatives reflect a modern and responsive Authority.

Contractors have applauded the Authority for promoting a culture of professionalism and compliance in the built environment sector. The push for mandatory Continuous Professional Development, improved inspection systems, and increased public awareness has reinforced NCA’s role as a guardian of construction quality and safety. This has been enhanced by implementation and enforcement of the recently launched National Building Code 2024 whose main priority is to promote order and safety in the construction industry.

As the renewal season progresses, the Authority’s clarity of messaging and operational efficiency is another testament to the transformative leadership of the Institution deeply committed to building a safe, regulated, and prosperous construction sector in Kenya.
