Kamukunji Jua Kali Artisans to Benefit from New Metal Training Centre

Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Jua Kali sector, following a visit to the Jua Kali Centre in Shauri Moyo, where he announced the establishment of a new Metal Training Centre aimed at boosting skills and productivity for local artisans.

The new training facility, set to be launched in Kamukunji, will focus on equipping artisans and traders with modern technical skills, enabling them to improve product quality, increase income, and compete more effectively in the growing manufacturing sector.

“I wholeheartedly support the hardworking and innovative artisans and traders who form the backbone of the thriving Jua Kali sector in Kamukunji,” said MP Hassan. “This new Metal Training Centre will empower them to upgrade their skills and enhance their productive capacities.”

During his visit, Hassan received a warm welcome from the leadership of the Jua Kali Centre, including Chair James Mwaura, Vice Chair Dan Ojwang, and Secretary Paul Ogola. He expressed gratitude for their dedication to advancing the interests of the sector and assured them of continued support from his office.

The Jua Kali industry, known for its resilience and creativity, plays a crucial role in Kenya’s informal economy by providing employment and fostering innovation at the grassroots level. The new training centre is expected to further formalize and professionalize the sector in Kamukunji, which has long been recognized as a national hub for metalwork and artisanry.
