I thought I had seen strange things in my life. But nothing prepared me for the day a woman’s panty dropped from my husband’s wallet. Not just any panty. It had my daughter’s name stitched on the inside.

It was a Sunday. Church service had just ended. We were back at home. He placed his wallet on the table and went to the bedroom. I was clearing the dishes when the wallet fell. I bent to pick it up and that is when it happened.

Something soft and pink slipped out.

At first, I thought it was a folded handkerchief. But when I opened it, my hands started shaking.

It was a lady’s innerwear. Lacy. Clean. Neatly folded. And right at the corner, stitched with black thread, was my daughter’s name. Wambui.
