DP Kindiki Leads Economic Empowerment Drive in Kiminini, Vows Continued Support for Jobs, Markets, and Infrastructure
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Friday reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza Administration's commitment to equitable development, economic empowerment, and job creation, as he led a high-profile leaders’ forum in Kiminini Constituency, Trans Nzoia County.
Speaking during the Kiminini Constituency Economic Empowerment Forum for Women Groups and SACCOs, the Deputy President highlighted the government’s deliberate efforts to uplift communities across all regions by unlocking economic potential through housing, infrastructure, market modernization, and youth employment programmes.
“At the heart of President William Ruto’s agenda is a clear focus on creating jobs and income-generating opportunities. Through the Affordable Housing, Institutional Housing, and Market Infrastructure Development Programmes, over 300,000 jobs have already been created,” said DP Kindiki.
He also announced the resumption of the Climateworkx Programme, set to be rolled out across all 47 counties starting this month. The initiative will onboard more than 100,000 young people, providing them with training, environmental work opportunities, and a pathway to sustainable income.
In a region where agriculture and trade remain key pillars of the economy, the Deputy President reassured local farmers and small-scale traders that they remain central to national development plans.
“In Trans Nzoia County, we are investing in the construction of 10 modern markets, under the Economic Stimulus Programme. These markets will not only offer expanded trading spaces but will also feature ICT hubs to promote e-commerce, and lactation rooms to dignify young mothers engaged in daily hustles,” he said.
DP Kindiki further confirmed that sufficient resources have been allocated to revive and complete all stalled roads projects, ensuring that even the most remote parts of the country are integrated into the national economy.
The forum brought together dozens of women-led SACCOs and community groups from across the county, reflecting the government’s emphasis on empowering grassroots economies.
Accompanying the Deputy President were a host of national and local leaders including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory, and a strong delegation of MPs, Senators, and Woman Representatives from across the country.
