The Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya has officially nominated Anthony Kyalo Kisoi as its candidate for the upcoming Mumbuni North Ward by-election, scheduled for November. The announcement was made today in Nairobi after high-level consultations between party officials and Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti.
The decision to nominate Kisoi followed a consensus-building meeting that brought together key party stakeholders and other aspirants who had expressed interest in the ticket. In a show of unity, the aspirants agreed to step down in support of Kisoi’s candidacy, signaling a coordinated effort by the party to retain the ward seat.
Speaking during the nomination event, Governor Wavinya Ndeti lauded the aspirants for their maturity and commitment to the party's ideals. "This is a demonstration of unity and strategic focus. We are confident that with Anthony Kyalo Kisoi as our candidate, Wiper will reclaim the Mumbuni North seat with a resounding victory," she said.
The Mumbuni North Ward seat fell vacant in 2023 following the death of the then Member of County Assembly (MCA), Gideon Kavuu. His passing left a leadership gap in the ward, prompting the upcoming by-election as mandated by the electoral law.
Kisoi, while accepting the nomination, pledged to uphold the values of the Wiper party and serve the people of Mumbuni North with dedication. "I am humbled by the trust bestowed upon me by the party leadership and fellow aspirants. I promise to work tirelessly to bring development and inclusive leadership to our ward," he stated.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to issue official timelines and guidelines for the by-election in the coming weeks.
The Wiper Party now shifts its focus to grassroots mobilization and campaigning ahead of the November poll, as it seeks to maintain its influence in Machakos County.
