Scheduled Power Outage to Affect 10 Counties on Thursday, Kenya Power Confirms

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled electricity interruption affecting parts of ten counties on Thursday, July 24, 2025, as part of routine maintenance aimed at enhancing the reliability of the national grid.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, July 23, the utility firm said the planned outages will take place from morning to evening, with specific timings varying slightly by region. The maintenance works are expected to improve electricity delivery and reduce unplanned power cuts in the future.

Nairobi County:
Residents along Dagoretti Road and surrounding areas including Warai North and South, Three D Lane, Miotoni, World Vision, Nandi Road, Montessori Centre, Windy Ridge, Pepo Lane, Link Road, Mdodo Lane, and Saint Christopher International School will experience a power cut from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Vihiga County:
Serem Market and nearby areas including Kapsotik Police Station, Mungavo, Elusui, Goibei Secondary School, Banja Market, Bombo Water, Kaimosi Teachers Training College, Turaco, and Jeviriri will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Kisii County:
Areas in Gesonso, Suneka, and Riana, including Gesonso Market, Suneka Market, Nyangoge Girls, and the residence of Governor Simba Arati, will experience an outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Homa Bay County:
Homa Bay Town will see a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, impacting institutions such as Tom Mboya University, Homa Bay Referral Hospital, and the County Assembly.

Migori County:
Nyatuoro and surrounding schools and centres will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Nyeri County:
A scheduled outage will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in areas such as Ark Lodge, Bondeni, Amboni Market, and Kiguru Primary School.

Tharaka Nithi County:
Power will be interrupted from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm in Chogoria and Kirurumwe, including Chogoria Market and Hospital.

Kiambu County:
In Juja Town and the Kenyatta Road area, residents in estates such as Elmark, Star of Hope, and Green Field will lose power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The outage will also impact Banana, Muchatha Shopping Centre, and surrounding estates.

Mombasa County:
Power will be off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm around State House and Mombasa Law Courts, as well as in the Shanzu area affecting Royal Shaza, Pride Inn Flamingo, and Shimo la Tewa institutions.

Taita Taveta County:
The entire Maungu area, including Itinyi, Kasigau, Jora, and Makwasinyi, will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
