Detectives in Migori County have launched a full-scale investigation into the mysterious murder of the son of former Uriri Member of Parliament, Haman Omamba. The young man’s lifeless body was discovered early Wednesday morning, lying just a few meters from his home in Migori Town.
The discovery has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing grief and disbelief over the tragic incident. Preliminary investigations by police suggest the victim may have been brutally attacked, as his body bore visible injuries indicative of foul play.
“We are treating this as a suspected homicide,” said one of the lead investigators at the scene. “We are currently piecing together the victim’s last movements to establish a clear timeline of events.”
According to neighbors, a commotion was heard late Tuesday night near the residence. However, many dismissed the noise as a possible domestic dispute and did not intervene at the time. It was not until early morning that the grim discovery was made, prompting an immediate police response.
The family has called on the police to expedite the investigation and ensure justice is served. Visibly shaken, former MP Haman Omamba described the loss of his son as devastating.
“This is a painful tragedy for our family,” he said in a brief statement. “We ask the public to avoid speculation as we await the outcome of official investigations.”
Police have since sealed off the crime scene and are analyzing CCTV footage from nearby premises in an effort to identify any suspects. Officers are also interviewing potential witnesses as they follow leads that may help unravel the motive behind the killing.
The victim’s body has been transferred to the Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigations.
“This is not just a crime against one family, but an attack on the safety of our community,” said Migori County Police Commander. “We will pursue this case relentlessly.”
