Mwala Member of Parliament Eng. Vincent Musyoka Musau Kawaya has continued to demonstrate his commitment to youth empowerment and economic growth through his support of the bodaboda sector. Speaking at Kakutha Primary School in Kangundo Constituency, Kawaya emphasized the importance of grassroots empowerment as a key pillar of the Bottom-up Transformative Agenda.
The event brought together bodaboda operators from across the region, providing them with economic support, safety gear, and training opportunities designed to improve their livelihoods and enhance road safety. The initiative also focused on promoting financial inclusion for bodaboda operators through access to credit and savings programs, enabling them to expand their businesses and support their families.
Hon. Fabian Kyule, the area host, together with leaders including Hon. Caleb Mule, Hon. Joshua Mwalyo, Hon. Rachael Kaki, Hon. Tabitha Mutinda, Hon. Betty Syengo, Hon. Francis Ngunga, Hon. Peter Kilonzo, Hon. Maeke, Hon. Boniface Kavyu, Hon. Everline Nzeki and Hon. Kavaa, joined the empowerment event in a show of unity and collective leadership.
Eng. Kawaya reiterated that economic empowerment at the grassroots level is essential in achieving social stability and sustainable development. “The bodaboda sector is a lifeline for many families and a critical driver of our local economies. By supporting these riders, we are building stronger communities and creating opportunities for growth and self-reliance,” he said.
Local residents praised the initiative, noting that such programs bring direct benefits to ordinary citizens, particularly the youth, who make up the majority of bodaboda operators.
