Kenya Launches Global Broadcast of World-Famous Wildebeest Migration Under the Theme “Beyond Migration”

Kenya has officially launched the global broadcast of the world-renowned Wildebeest Migration—hailed as the World’s Greatest Annual Terrestrial Wildlife Migration—during a high-level event attended by President Dr. William Samoei Ruto and key national leaders at the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The event, marked by celebration and global attention, was graced by the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Rebecca Miano, EGH, Narok Governor H.E. Patrick Ole Ntutu, Principal Secretary for Wildlife Ms. Silvia Museiya, Principal Secretary for Tourism Mr. John Ololtua, and the Director General of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Prof. Erustus Kanga, alongside other dignitaries and invited guests.

The migration, a natural marvel that draws hundreds of thousands of tourists annually, has now been officially recognized by the World Book of Records as the World’s Greatest Annual Terrestrial Wildlife Migration, reinforcing Kenya’s position as a premier global tourism destination.

This year’s theme, “Beyond Migration,” aims to spotlight Kenya’s extensive and diverse tourism offerings that stretch far beyond the spectacular movement of over 1.5 million wildebeest and other wildlife species. The campaign focuses on year-round tourism gems that make Kenya truly magical—ranging from thrilling adventure experiences and untouched marine parks to majestic mountains, golden coastlines, expansive deserts, sacred forests, and innovative, community-led conservation programs.

“Kenyans take great pride in our natural heritage. Today, we showcase not just a migration, but the full spectrum of beauty, biodiversity, and cultural richness our nation has to offer,” said Prof. Kanga, Director General of KWS. “This event is a call to the world—Kenya is ready to welcome you for transformative, unforgettable experiences.”

President Ruto emphasized the role of tourism in driving Kenya’s economy and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting conservation, sustainable tourism, and community development. “Our wildlife and natural ecosystems are treasures that belong not only to us but to the world. We must protect them and share their wonder with future generations,” he stated.

The global broadcast is expected to reach millions of viewers across continents, inspiring travel, investment, and a renewed commitment to conserving Africa’s irreplaceable natural wonders.

Kenya is calling. Come experience a journey beyond migration.
