EBK and KEBS Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Engineering Excellence and Public Safety

 

The Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), under the leadership of Registrar and CEO Eng. Margaret Ogai, held a productive meeting with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), led by Managing Director Mrs. Esther Ngari, to strengthen collaboration between the two regulatory agencies.

The discussions culminated in several key resolutions aimed at advancing engineering excellence and safeguarding public safety. Notably, EBK and KEBS agreed to work together to provide internship opportunities for Graduate Engineers under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP), giving young professionals vital hands-on experience in the field.

In a bid to enhance the quality of structural engineering practices in Kenya, the two agencies also committed to supporting Eurocode training for structural engineers. This move aligns with international best practices and aims to improve the standards and safety of construction projects across the country.

Additionally, EBK and KEBS will bolster joint surveillance efforts to curb the use of substandard construction materials—a persistent challenge in the industry that threatens the integrity of infrastructure and public safety.

The Engineers Board of Kenya lauded KEBS for its proactive role in professional development, commending KEBS staff who have successfully applied and registered as Professional Engineers.
