Former Kimumu Ward aspirant and youth leader Norbert Kipkemboi is in mourning following the tragic loss of four members of his close-knit support team who died in a road accident on Saturday morning at Kolol along the Iten-Kabarnet road.
In a heartfelt message shared with the press and on social media, Kipkemboi named the deceased as Bruce, Koechii, Mejja Gabu, and Iano — individuals he described not only as workers but as family and brothers with whom he shared both labor and life.
“The cruel hand of death has visited us and hit us right below the belt,” Kipkemboi wrote. “My heart is so heavy to eulogize my support team. Four of them passed on following a tragic accident on Saturday morning.”
The four young men were part of Kipkemboi’s daily life, helping him on his farm and sharing in what he called a bond that went beyond work. “We worked in my farm on a daily basis like brothers — a venture we both enjoyed. Our friendship had grown into brotherhood,” he said.
Describing their dedication, honesty, and unwavering support, Kipkemboi noted that their sudden deaths have left an irreplaceable void in both his personal and family life. “No amount of words can explain how much you meant to me and my family. We relied on you for so many things. Now you are no more.”
The accident, which occurred early Saturday morning, is under investigation by traffic authorities. Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle the four were traveling in lost control on a sharp bend, but official details are yet to be released.
Kipkemboi extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, friends, church members, and the larger community mourning the tragic loss. “My deepest condolences to all your families, friends, the community at large, and the church. I know you are watching us from above. That morning when the trumpet shall be blown, we shall meet again. Fare thee well, my comrades. Mtyo biikchok.”
The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief and solidarity across the Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet regions, with community members remembering the young men as hardworking, respectful, and devoted individuals.
Funeral arrangements are currently underway, with local leaders expected to join the families in laying the young men to rest in the coming days.
