The NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat has successfully concluded a two-day county governance validation exercise in Uasin Gishu, with the final session held at Kiplombe Ward in Turbo Sub-County.
Led by Rt. Archbishop (Rtd) Eliud Wabukala, Chairperson of the County Peer Review Mechanism (CPRM), the initiative engaged local residents in an interactive dialogue on governance, service delivery, and citizen participation. The exercise, part of a national county review process, aims to assess progress, identify development challenges, and promote accountable leadership across Kenya’s devolved units.
Addressing the community, Rt. Archbishop Wabukala commended the people of Kiplombe for their candid contributions.
“We are encouraged by the honest feedback from the community. This validation is not just a formality but a foundation for improving service delivery and enhancing trust between government and citizens,” he said.
Dr. Rose Kitur, Director of NEPAD Programs and leader of the validation team, applauded the County Government of Uasin Gishu under Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii for fostering a culture of transparency.
“The insights gathered here will inform a comprehensive peer review report. This report will not only highlight areas of progress but will also guide targeted interventions and serve as a model for other counties,” Dr. Kitur stated.
Residents voiced a variety of concerns and priorities, including youth employment, healthcare access, road infrastructure, agricultural support, and the equitable distribution of bursaries. The NEPAD/APRM team assured participants that all feedback will be incorporated into the final report and shared with both county and national authorities to drive action.
The Kiplombe session marked the final stop in the Uasin Gishu leg of the exercise, highlighting a critical milestone in the broader effort to institutionalize participatory governance and inclusive development across Kenya.
