Nandi Hills MP Bernard Kitur Claims Life in Danger Over Mediheal Organ Transplant Scandal

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament, Bernard Kitur, has sensationally claimed that his life is in danger following his efforts to expose an alleged illegal organ transplant syndicate linked to Mediheal Group of Hospitals. The legislator has pointed fingers at former Kesses MP, Dr. Swarup Mishra, accusing him of involvement in the controversial medical scandal.

Kitur made the revelations while appearing before the National Assembly’s Health Committee, where he painted a picture of intimidation and attempted cover-ups targeting both whistleblowers and victims.

“On Wednesday evening, my vehicle was followed and eventually blocked near the Brookside area in Eldoret. The people who intercepted me were officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations,” Kitur told the committee. He specifically named DCI officer Osman Ndiema and the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) in Eldoret as being behind the incident.

The MP further alleged that the intimidation is part of a broader scheme to silence those speaking out about the scandal. He narrated how he visited Amon Kipruto—an alleged victim of the organ transplant racket—who reportedly confided in him that he had been offered money in exchange for his silence.

“Even Kipruto’s mother is under pressure. She is jobless and has allegedly been approached to stay quiet in exchange for employment,” Kitur said.

According to the MP, the organ harvesting issue is no longer just a matter of medical ethics, but a gross violation of human rights. He urged Parliament and the Ministry of Health to ensure full investigations and to provide protection for both victims and whistleblowers.

“This is a human rights crisis. We need to move with urgency to protect those who have been exploited, and ensure those behind this network are held accountable,” he emphasized.

The Mediheal Group of Hospitals, which has faced scrutiny before for its transplant procedures, has yet to respond publicly to the latest claims. Dr. Swarup Mishra, a renowned medical practitioner and former legislator, has also not issued a statement regarding the allegations.

Members of the Health Committee have vowed to summon all involved parties for questioning, including officials from Mediheal and the DCI, as pressure mounts from civil society organizations calling for a transparent and thorough investigation.

The unfolding scandal has sparked nationwide outrage, with Kenyans demanding answers and accountability in a sector that is meant to save lives—not exploit them.
