Moi University had the distinct honour of hosting H.E. Benjamin Cheboi, Governor of Baringo County, during a courtesy visit aimed at advancing higher education in the region. The Governor was accompanied by a high-level delegation from the County Government and was warmly received by Moi University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, along with the University’s senior management team.
The visit comes on the heels of the recent gazettement of Kabarnet University College, a major milestone in the effort to expand access to quality higher education in Baringo County. Kabarnet University College is set to become a constituent college of Moi University.
During the deliberations, both parties focused on the operationalization of the new college, with special attention to aligning its development with the standards and requirements set by the Commission for University Education (CUE). These discussions are crucial to ensuring a smooth and compliant institutional setup and eventual accreditation.
Prof. Kotut expressed Moi University’s strong commitment to supporting Kabarnet University College, noting that the partnership is a testament to the University's broader mission of promoting education, innovation, and regional development.
Governor Cheboi commended Moi University for its pivotal role in nurturing academic excellence in the North Rift and reaffirmed Baringo County's dedication to ensuring that the institution serves as a center of knowledge and empowerment for generations to come.
The collaboration between Moi University and Baringo County marks a significant step forward in decentralizing higher education opportunities and fostering academic growth across the country.
