In a powerful message of unity and patriotism, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending tribal divisions and promoting inclusivity across the county.
Speaking during a public gathering at Kenyatta grounds in Kitale, Governor Natembeya declared that tribal politics have no place in Trans Nzoia, and that the region has moved beyond identity-based discrimination.
“We buried the politics of dividing people along tribal lines here in Trans Nzoia and left them in the grave of forgetfulness,” Natembeya said. “When we talk about community unity, it does not mean excluding others—far from it! Our unity is about bringing people together, not separating them. This is a home for everyone.”
His remarks were met with applause and cheers from residents, many of whom welcomed the message as a sign of hope for lasting peace and development.
Trans Nzoia, often referred to as Kenya’s breadbasket, is home to diverse ethnic communities. It has become a model for peaceful coexistence, where people from various backgrounds live and work together harmoniously.
Governor Natembeya and other county leaders have continuously urged residents—especially the youth and elders—to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and shared community initiatives to strengthen unity.
The gathering also highlighted key development plans for the county, focusing on agriculture, healthcare, and education. The governor pledged that all projects would be implemented fairly, without favoritism based on tribe or origin.
Residents expressed optimism that such statements and leadership direction will help reduce political tensions, especially during election periods, and promote the social cohesion necessary for genuine progress.
