Farouk Kibet, Personal Assistant to H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, has hailed the success of a high-impact Economic Empowerment Programme held in Sigor Constituency, West Pokot County, describing it as a reflection of the government’s commitment to grassroots-driven development.
Addressing the gathering, Farouk emphasized that empowering communities remains one of the most effective ways to unlock growth and deliver lasting change. He noted that when ordinary Kenyans are equipped with the necessary tools, resources, and opportunities, they become active drivers of local economic transformation.
“True development starts at the grassroots. When we empower the people, we stimulate local economies, foster self-reliance, and lay the foundation for sustainable progress. This is the essence of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda championed by President Ruto,” said Farouk.
The colourful event brought together a cross-section of national leaders, signaling unity and shared purpose in advancing the development agenda. Among those present were the host MP Hon. Peter Lochakapong, National Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, Hon. Cynthia Muge (Nandi Woman Rep), Hon. Lilian Siyoi (Trans Nzoia Woman Rep), Hon. Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Hon. John Bwire (Taveta), and West Pokot Governor H.E. Simon Kachapin, among other distinguished guests.
Farouk lauded the leadership of the area MP and county government for their dedication to improving the livelihoods of the people in this often-overlooked region.
“This is what partnership looks like—leaders from different regions and political affiliations uniting for the sole purpose of empowering wananchi. This is the Kenya we believe in: a Kenya where opportunity is not a privilege, but a right for all,” he added.
He further reiterated the national government’s ongoing support for programmes that uplift pastoralist communities, enhance education and health infrastructure, and promote peace and security across the North Rift region.
