Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on Kenyans to foster unity and patriotism as the nation navigates a period of political scrutiny and public criticism over unfulfilled government promises.
Speaking during a church service in Narok East on Sunday, the Deputy President emphasized the need for national cohesion, urging citizens to rise above divisive politics and embrace love for their country.
“We must love Kenya because it is our country. This is where God put all of us. Let’s be patriotic,” said Kindiki.
He stressed that while criticism of government policies is welcome and even necessary, such engagement should be done constructively to help refine governance.
“It is not mandatory to agree with every government decision,” Kindiki said. “But pray for your leaders to succeed because if they succeed, the country will succeed. If they fail, the country fails too. It is the foolish who will pray for the leaders and the country to fail.”
Addressing concerns over Kenya’s future, Kindiki dismissed narratives of doom and decline, maintaining that the nation remains on a path of progress driven by strategic government interventions across various sectors of the economy.
“Kenya will not fail. Without fear of contradiction, we have learnt painful lessons in the past. We have seen what negative ethnicity can do to a country,” he said. “We are determined to make this a land of growth and success.”
His remarks come at a time when the Kenya Kwanza administration is facing increasing pressure from the opposition and civil society groups for allegedly falling short of the promises made during the 2022 general election campaigns.
