Reuben Kigame Vows to Inspire Youth and Persons with Disabilities in Presidential Vision

Deputy Party Leader of the Justice and Freedom Party (JFP), Reuben Kigame, has said that his presidential bid is anchored on restoring hope to millions of Kenyans, especially the youth and persons with disabilities, who feel forgotten by the current political establishment.

In a passionate address, Kigame — a celebrated gospel musician, scholar, and disability rights advocate — said his leadership would focus on inspiring citizens to believe in their potential and pursue education and opportunity, regardless of their circumstances.

“There are many things that other presidential candidates bring to the table, but if there’s one thing my presidency would offer, it’s the question of who — who is leading and what they represent,” Kigame said. “Many Kenyans and institutions have lost hope. I believe my presidency can restore that.”

Kigame, who is visually impaired, shared his own journey of struggle and perseverance, describing how financial hardship and societal attitudes delayed his academic dreams. “I wish I could be getting this doctorate much earlier. In my twenties, I was ready, but there was no money, no opportunity,” he said. “But I want every young person to know — if Reuben Kigame can go to school, then they can too.”

He emphasized the urgent need for Kenya to embrace and empower persons with disabilities, who he said are often hidden away and denied dignity. “People with disabilities are treated like animals, locked away in homes. I want to show not just Kenya, but the world, that disability is not the end of life,” Kigame declared. “You can go to school, get a job, get married, and have children — just like I have.”

Kigame also highlighted his commitment to moral and spiritual renewal, saying the church in Kenya needs revival. “Faith has a role in shaping values and guiding our nation. My leadership would support that spiritual awakening.”

Kigame, who has long been a voice for justice and inclusion, said his vision is not just about politics, but about healing a nation and building a future where every Kenyan feels seen, heard, and valued.
