National Assembly Labour Committee Visits Commission House, Pledges Budgetary Support

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Labour, led by its Vice-Chairperson Hon. Fabian Kyule, paid a working visit to the Commission House on May 16, 2025, as part of the parliamentary budget review process for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

During the visit, Hon. Kyule reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to supporting the Commission’s budgetary needs, emphasizing the importance of adequately funding the institution to enable it to fulfill its constitutional mandate.

“This committee is here to understand the Commission’s financial needs as part of the parliament’s budgetary process,” Hon. Kyule stated, highlighting the role of legislative oversight in ensuring effective resource allocation.

The meeting provided a platform for the Commission to present its proposed budget for the upcoming financial year, alongside a comprehensive overview of the financial performance and utilization of resources allocated for the 2024/2025 period.

PSC Vice-Chairperson Ms. Mary Kimonye, who hosted the committee, emphasized the importance of continuous engagement between the Commission and Parliament. “There is need for sustained collaboration between the committee and the Commission to enhance accountability and better serve the public,” she said.

The visit marks a significant step in the budget formulation process and reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and effective service delivery.
