Kapsuswa Affordable Housing Project 82% Complete as Eldoret City Prepares for Urban Transformation

Construction of the Kapsuswa Affordable Housing Project in Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, has reached 82% completion, signaling significant progress in one of the government’s key urban development initiatives under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The project, spearheaded by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, is part of the government’s broader plan to increase access to affordable housing while promoting inclusive urban growth. It is located within the newly conferred Eldoret City, and is expected to ease the rising demand for housing in the fast-growing urban area.

Once complete, the development will offer 220 housing units, including 60 studio apartments, 40 one-bedroom units, 100 two-bedroom units, and 20 three-bedroom units. These options are designed to accommodate a diverse range of residents, from young professionals to growing families.

Currently, 220 workers are deployed on-site, working across nine residential blocks to complete civil works and final finishing touches.

“This project exemplifies how President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda is delivering real, tangible benefits to Kenyan communities,” said Dr. Raymond Omollo, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Interior and National Administration. “Beyond housing, it is creating jobs, boosting local economies, and laying the groundwork for sustainable urban infrastructure.”

The strategic positioning of the Kapsuswa project is expected to open new avenues in real estate investment, retail trade, and service delivery, spurring broader socio-economic development in Eldoret and surrounding areas.

Local leaders and residents have welcomed the progress, expressing optimism that the project will not only alleviate housing shortages but also stimulate growth in other sectors including transport, education, and health services.

With the final phase of construction underway, the Kapsuswa Affordable Housing Project is on track to become a model for urban regeneration and economic inclusion under the government’s affordable housing program.
