Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has officially relocated his office operations to the Kiminini Sub-County offices, following a recent court directive that temporarily barred him from accessing his official office in Kitale for a period of 60 days.
The High Court ruling, whose details remain under seal pending further hearings, compelled the Governor to seek an alternative operational base to ensure continuity in county governance. In response, Governor Natembeya moved swiftly to establish temporary headquarters in Kiminini, where preparations for full functionality are already in advanced stages.
“All relevant county departments have been mobilized and are on the ground to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to the people of Trans Nzoia,” a statement from the Governor's office read. The swift transition reflects the Governor’s determination to maintain stability in governance and public service despite legal headwinds.
Addressing staff and residents at the new offices, Governor Natembeya reaffirmed his commitment to service, stating, “Kazi lazima isonge mbele” — work must go on. He further emphasized that no disruption would deter his administration from pushing forward with its development agenda.
The relocation has also been welcomed by some residents of Kiminini, who view it as a chance to bring government services closer to the grassroots. Local leaders noted that the Governor’s presence in the sub-county could stimulate development and enhance accessibility to county services.
“This is not just a temporary solution; it is a moment to deepen our decentralization efforts and test the resilience of our administrative structures,” the Governor added.
The move marks an unusual but adaptive chapter in Trans Nzoia’s county leadership, as the administration navigates legal proceedings while maintaining governance across the region. The Governor is expected to operate from the Kiminini offices until the court reviews the matter after the 60-day period.
