Geoffrey Kaituko, Designate Deputy Head of Mission to Rome and former Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development, has extended a heartfelt message of gratitude to workers across Kenya and beyond in honour of Labour Day.
In a public statement released today, Kaituko praised the dedication, resilience, and critical contributions of workers to national development. Reflecting on his tenure as Principal Secretary in 2022–2023, he emphasized how the experience deepened his appreciation for the workforce’s pivotal role in building the economy and strengthening communities.
"Serving as Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development gave me a profound understanding of the essential role you play," Kaituko said. "Your hard work, perseverance, and commitment are the foundation of our nation’s progress."
Now serving in a diplomatic capacity, Kaituko took the occasion to underscore the importance of labour rights and worker welfare as central to sustainable development both locally and internationally.
“Today, we honour you,” he concluded. “Thank you for all that you do.”
The message comes amid global celebrations marking Labour Day, observed annually on May 1st to recognize the achievements and contributions of workers worldwide.
