Ruto Faces Fresh Backlash Over Natembeya Attacks as Trans Nzoia Leaders Allege Development Sabotage

Political tensions in Kenya have intensified as President William Ruto’s administration faces deep scrutiny from opposition coalitions and civil society. The friction centers around two competing narratives regarding the country's development and political discourse with Ruto being told to stop passing blame for slow development in several devolved units not supporting UDA.

Western Kenya Human Rights watch Director Job Bwonya accused the President for divisive rhetoric and Personal attacks against Opposition figures.

‘’ How can a person whom the constitution entrusted with the position of being a unifying factor  roam everywhere undermining the dignity of his office by utilizing harsh, personal, and sometimes body-shaming rhetoric against rivals? Ruto’s aggressive speeches, sometimes labeling opposition coalitions as "clueless" , fools , agenda less , stupid and "wash-wash conmanship is  inflaming  political divisions and ethnic mobilization’’, Mr. Bwonya said.

He described the President’s attack against Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya as immature politicking aimed at causing despondency. He said that the president’s claims of saying Natembeya was blocking the county from getting development were in itself false, far-fetched, and populist to make Kenyans believe that Ruto meant well for devolution when indeed he was solely responsible for neglect.

Former Member of parliament David Wafula Lazaro led other politicians in accusing the Ruto administration of marginalization and political bias, pointing to stagnant or incomplete infrastructure projects while billions of shillings are channeled into regions politically aligned with the government.

Governor George Natembeya  and his allies pushed  back against these claims, explicitly accusing the UDA administration  of being "saboteurs" who actively attempt to block and litigate against crucial County government initiatives. The County administration states that the William Ruto backed operatives have been  utilizing court petitions  against appointments to the county Executive arm with an aim  to freeze key infrastructure programs, including Masinde Muliro Ultra- modern Trading Centre .

The former MP Lazaro  maintains that those being used by the President to cause political instability in the County government  lack an alternative development blueprint for Trans Nzoia . He further said Governor Natembeya has severally attributed any delays in project completion to unconstructive political resistance and external sponsors seeking to destabilize his policy goals.

‘’ It is a lie from the President that the governor is to blame for delays in development Projects. It is him and by extension his surrogates who have put roadblocks on development projects meant for Trans Nzoia and the better he stops lying, the better’’, Said the former MP.

He said it is President Ruto to carry the blames for sabotage, hate and vengeance.

Endbess Parliamentary hopeful  said the national government was panicking after realizing it had totally lost grip over Trans nzoia and now the President was throwing missiles left, right, centre, back, west and East using unpalatable words thinking he will cow down anyone to follow him blindly.

The County Lands,  Housing, and Urban Development Executive Committee Member at the County government said he stood with his  criticism of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen over explosive allegations of voter smuggling along the Kenya-Uganda border.

The daring CECM fearlessly lectured the Interior Cabinet Secretary face-to-face regarding discrepancies in the issuance of National Identification Cards (IDs) by  questioning  why Kenyan youths living in the border regions have to wait over a year with temporary "waiting cards" without getting their IDs.

He alleged that individuals crossing over from Uganda were  being fast-tracked and handed IDs within just two days to illegally facilitate them into Kenya's 2027 electoral database.

The tough talking Gumo strongly backed Governor Natembeya’s stance on securing the 2027 vote, boldly declaring to the CS that "Endebess was not an extension of Bukwo District in Uganda.
