DP Kindiki Commissions New School Facilities in Mwea, Vows Continued Investment in Education Sector

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Thursday presided over the official opening of a newly constructed tuition complex and administration block at Wang’uru Comprehensive School in Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s education system.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy President emphasized that quality, accessible, and comprehensive education remains a key pillar in the socio-economic transformation of Kenya. He highlighted the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s achievements in the education sector, including the recruitment of 76,000 teachers over the past two years.

“In the upcoming 2025/2026 financial year, the Government will allocate additional resources to recruit 24,000 more teachers, bringing the total to 100,000 new teachers within three years,” Kindiki said.

He added that the Government is focused on ensuring 100% transition across all education levels by investing in modern infrastructure, including classrooms, laboratories, ICT centres, and the provision of adequate learning materials to support innovation in schools.

Following the school commissioning, Deputy President Kindiki also took part in the Mwea Constituency Boda Boda and Mama Mboga SACCOs Empowerment Programme, underscoring the Government’s ongoing efforts to uplift grassroots economies and support small-scale traders and transport operators.

“This administration is determined to empower ordinary Kenyans, and programmes like these SACCOs are critical in driving financial inclusion and economic resilience,” he stated.

The Deputy President was accompanied by local leaders, education officials, and community members who welcomed the development as a major boost for the region.
