CS Kipchumba Murkomen: Operation Ondoa Jangili Restoring Peace in Isiolo and Marsabit

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has lauded the ongoing multi-agency security initiative Operation Ondoa Jangili for its success in restoring peace and order in Isiolo and Marsabit counties—regions that have long struggled with insecurity.

Speaking during a Jukwaa La Usalama tour of Marsabit, CS Murkomen commended the progress made, revealing that the operation has significantly curtailed criminal activities that once plagued the area.

Operation Ondoa Jangili has been instrumental in dismantling criminal networks and restoring sanity in the region. We have made major strides in combating the proliferation of small arms, illegal mining, drug and human trafficking, as well as cross-border incursions,” said Murkomen.

According to a progress report presented during the tour, the operation has led to the recovery of more than 200 illegal firearms and the arrest of over 300 suspects, many of whom have since been prosecuted.

In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, 286 foreign nationals involved in illicit trade have been apprehended.

Murkomen reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the rule of law. “Our multi-agency teams remain vigilant and ready to act. We are not just fighting criminals—we are reclaiming this region for the peace-loving people of Isiolo and Marsabit,” he stated.

The CS emphasized that Operation Ondoa Jangili will continue until lasting peace and stability are fully achieved.
