Bodies of Three Kenyans Killed in Sharjah Fire Tragedy Repatriated to Nairobi

The bodies of three Kenyan men who tragically perished in a recent fire in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, were repatriated to Nairobi on Monday, marking a somber homecoming for families grieving across borders.

The deceased — Ian Ndung’u Mungai, Kennedy Kamau Wangari, and Benjamin Kioko Ndunda — lost their lives in a deadly residential building blaze that occurred several days ago in the UAE. The tragedy sent shockwaves through both the Kenyan diaspora community in the Gulf region and their families back home.

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), family members, friends, and officials gathered for brief prayers on the tarmac in a solemn moment of remembrance. The remains were later transported to Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home and other designated locations in preparation for final burial rites.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed condolences to the bereaved families and affirmed its ongoing engagement with UAE authorities to support investigations and provide assistance.

Diaspora groups in the UAE have also rallied in solidarity, helping to coordinate repatriation efforts and offering emotional and financial support to the affected families.

Final arrangements for the burials are expected to take place in the coming days, as families prepare to lay their loved ones to rest.
