Nambale Boys High School has entered a new era of leadership following the departure of Senior Principal Mr. Tom Mboya Amadi, who has officially handed over the institution to Mr. Wycliffe Manoah. Mr. Amadi has been posted to Magunga High School in Kisumu County in a leadership reshuffle aimed at bolstering performance across the region.
Mr. Manoah arrives from Ramba Boys High School in Siaya County, where his tenure ended following unrest triggered by the tragic death of two students who fell into a septic tank—a harrowing incident that led to student protests and administrative changes.
Mr. Amadi’s legacy at Nambale is one of transformation and measurable success. Under his stewardship, the school posted stellar results in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, becoming the only school in Busia County to produce two A plains. A passionate mathematician, Mr. Amadi made Mathematics one of the most popular subjects among students, culminating in an impressive 32 A plains in the subject alone.
Beyond academics, his leadership ushered in a new era of financial accountability and infrastructural development. He successfully reduced the school’s outstanding debts from KSh 36 million to KSh 14 million, a move that stabilized the institution’s finances and allowed for reinvestment in critical areas.
Mr. Amadi also improved the school’s mean KCSE score from 5.6 to 6.2, reflecting a steady upward trajectory in academic performance. His cost-saving measures included halting wasteful expenditure—often referred to as “the supply of air”—and reinforcing budgetary discipline within the school’s management.
In infrastructure, his resourcefulness stood out. He spearheaded the tiling of the school laboratory at a cost of just KSh 1.8 million, significantly below the contractor’s original estimate of KSh 6.5 million. Similarly, the repainting of the school was completed at KSh 1.7 million—far lower than the KSh 5.6 million quoted by external contractors.
During the handover ceremony, Board of Management Chairperson Canon Prof. Okumu Bigambo praised Mr. Amadi’s integrity, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
> “Senior Principal Mr. Tom Mboya Amadi, we declare you a winner in your life as a person, a servant of God, and above all, a professional teacher,” Prof. Bigambo stated. “You came and saved Nambale High School from going under. Your legacy in academics, infrastructure, and institutional integrity is a beacon for all.”
Prof. Bigambo also commended Amadi for standing firm against corruption and moral decay, noting the Board and ACK Church fraternity had fully supported his reform agenda.
As Mr. Manoah assumes office, the school community anticipates a seamless transition and continued progress, built on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor.
