Human Rights Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Appeals for Unity and Action Against Propaganda Campaigns

Renowned human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has issued a heartfelt appeal to President William Ruto, urging him to take decisive action in addressing the escalating campaign of propaganda aimed at undermining his administration. Ngetich, speaking on behalf of a coalition of concerned citizens, called for the formation of a cross-sectoral group comprising government officials, civil society leaders, religious bodies, and political figures, to counter the misleading narratives being spread by the President’s critics.

According to Ngetich, the continued consumption of negative propaganda by citizens is harming the nation’s development and progress. He emphasized that the government must act swiftly to ensure accurate and timely information reaches the public, particularly in light of the growing use of art and comedy as political tools. “The Kalenjin artists and comedians, who have long been celebrated for their cultural contributions, are now being weaponized by opposition forces to attack the government and the President,” Ngetich remarked.

He further warned that the propagation of divisive rhetoric, particularly among Kenya’s youth, poses a significant threat to national unity. “Tribalism, hate, and misinformation are being used to incite division, and it is the youth who are bearing the brunt of this dangerous agenda,” Ngetich noted. “These tactics are part of a broader strategy to discredit the President and sow chaos, simply because he does not come from a politically established or wealthy family.”

The activist stressed that the President’s call for unity and development must not be derailed by these malicious efforts. “The President’s vision for a united, prosperous Kenya is a commitment to the future of all Kenyans,” said Ngetich. “However, the forces working to divide the nation are exploiting every opportunity to spread hate and fear, and this must be countered with a clear, collective strategy.”

Ngetich also expressed concern over the growing discontent among the youth, who face significant challenges, particularly in terms of unemployment. He urged the government to focus on service delivery and prioritize policies that will create opportunities for young people, while ensuring that corruption and inefficiency within the government are swiftly addressed.

“The President cannot afford to tolerate laziness or corruption within his administration,” Ngetich emphasized. “Those undermining the government from within must be held accountable, and if necessary, shown the door.”

Additionally, Ngetich expressed concern about the ongoing rhetoric from former Deputy President William Ruto, calling for stronger responses to his inflammatory comments. “His utterances, driven by tribalism and personal ambition, continue to sow division among Kenyans,” Ngetich said. “We must not allow these tactics to succeed. Kenyans must resist the temptation to fall into the trap of hate and division.”

In his closing remarks, Ngetich drew parallels between the current political climate and the challenges faced by former President Daniel arap Moi, noting that Ruto’s presidency is being subjected to similar attacks from wealthy and tribal elites. “The President is facing the same type of persecution that President Moi endured, and it is clear that the rich and powerful are determined to fight his leadership,” Ngetich concluded. “However, Kenyans must remain united and committed to peace at all costs.”

As the nation prepares for future elections, Ngetich urged Kenyans to prioritize the country’s development over political games and to support policies that will create a better future for all citizens. The call for unity, he said, must be met with concrete actions to ensure the stability and progress of the nation.
