With only a few days remaining before Kenya marks Mashujaa Day, leaders and residents of Uasin Gishu County have assured Kenyans that preparations for the national celebrations are progressing well, with security and accommodation for visitors among the top priorities.

The celebrations are scheduled for October 20, 2026, at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, placing Uasin Gishu County at the centre of the country's national commemorations.

The leaders said measures were being put in place to ensure visitors from across the country enjoy a safe, comfortable and memorable experience during the historic event.

Principal Secretary in the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration Dr Raymond Omollo has called on Kenyans from all parts of the country to travel to Eldoret and participate in the celebrations.

Dr Omollo said Mashujaa Day provides an opportunity for the country to honour heroes and heroines whose contributions to the struggle for independence, national development and public welfare have helped shape Kenya.

“We invite and welcome everybody to Kipchoge Keino Stadium, and because it's Mashujaa Day, we'll also be celebrating many, many Mashujaas,” said Dr Omollo.

The event is expected to bring together national and county leaders, invited guests and members of the public to celebrate Kenya's history, recognise outstanding contributions to society and reflect on the country's development journey.

As the countdown to October 20 continues, Eldoret is preparing to welcome visitors for a national celebration that will shine a spotlight on Uasin Gishu County and its role in hosting one of Kenya's major public holidays.
