EACC ARRESTS TURKANA NURSE OVER KSh2.76 MILLION COUNTY CONTRACTS

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Turkana County nurse, Gilbert Suleiman Eskuku, alongside his business partner, Abass Abdi Yusuf, over an alleged conflict of interest involving county government contracts worth KSh2.76 million.

Speaking at the EACC North Rift Regional Office in Eldoret, the commission’s Regional Manager, Maj. (Rtd) Kuntai Ole Tingisha, said investigations established allegations that Eskuku used Ekwang Suppliers Company Limited, where he was a co-director, to secure county contracts between 2017 and 2021 while employed by the Turkana County Government.

The two suspects, together with the company, are expected to face charges including conflict of interest, money laundering and acquisition of proceeds of crime.

The suspects were being processed at the EACC offices in Eldoret ahead of their planned arraignment on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The commission has also indicated that it will pursue the recovery of public funds and the forfeiture of assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime.

The allegations remain subject to determination by the courts.
