Professionals Fault Politicians for Hypocrisy
Professionals across multiple sectors from Trans Nzoia County Sunday faulted politicians from the ruling coalition for hypocrisy, citing the stark divide between public rhetoric and private action, policy enforcement, or professional governance.
Scholar Dr. martin kisiang’any said the politicians had bypassed expert consultation to pass self- serving and poorly hurried laws among them the Election Amendment Bill making livestreaming of election results non- Mandatory.
Speaking to Vipasho News in Kitale, Dr. kisiang’any who quoted African Statesmen Kwame Nguruma and Nnamdi Azikiwe said the current leaders had betrayed Pan Africanism and were busy amassing wealth for themselves leaving those governed in utter poverty and shame.
‘’Sixty-five years after Nigeria's Independence, sixty-eight years after Ghana's, sixty three years after Kenya's, what do we have to show? We have the biggest mansions in the poorest communities. We have the most expensive cars on the worst roads. We have politicians who fly to London to treat cancer, while the people who voted them in die of malaria and typhoid because the clinic has no bed’’, he said.
The Don said this was not governance but betrayal, pointing out the hypocrisy of politicians claiming to protect public safety while crafting laws behind closed doors that threaten specialized expertise and weaken professional oversight.
He noted that high-minded policies in the Country have been subverted into "extraction frameworks" and designed to benefit political elites at the expense of the labor force.
Dr. kisiang’ani who has declared intention to vie for the saboti Parliamentary seat during next year’s general elections criticized politicians who alternate their views on the judiciary based entirely on personal outcomes praising the courts when they win and decrying them as corrupt when they lose.
He blamed the culture of cover ups and political meddling and told those politicians shrugging off systemic bribery, vowing that the new crop of leadership aspiring to take over power from the broad based administration will restore the confidence of the people of Kenya.
He hit at the culture of the winner takes all and the loser takes hunger, saying it was a total absurdity seeing a Kenyan MP taking salary, ex-gratia, car loan, fuel allowance, house girl allowance, funeral donation allowance, while the teacher who taught him how to read takes chalk and insults.
‘’In Kenya, an MP's ex-gratia can build three classroom blocks. A Senator's wardrobe allowance can pay 50 teachers for a year. And you still have the courage to stand on a podium and say, *"We are building a nation, forcing the poor people to sing TUTAM’’, he said.
His sentiments were echoed by a coalition of County assembly aspirants and The Equitable Party officials who strongly objected to the IEBC (AMENDMENT) BILL on removing livestreaming of election results, telling those who voted for its passage to brace themselves for tougher times ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
TEP youth leader Kevin Wanyonyi Kubumba said MPs were supposed to represent the people of Kenya and not sleeping with the Executive to re- introduce archaic laws returning the Country into dark days of one party rule.
‘’We wish to strongly object to the recent Elections (Amendment) passed by Members of Parliament removing/compromising live streaming and real-time transmission/display of election results and we are demanding that a special session of parliament and senate be convened to repeal it’’, he said.
He said the amendment was a betrayal to Kenyans and violates the Constitution , making it possible for election rigging.
