Presidential Aspirant Michael Kirwa Sparks Debate With Mashujaa Day Job Creation Promise

Presidential aspirant Michael Kiprotich Kirwa has sparked debate after announcing plans for a Mashujaa Day empowerment initiative that he says will focus on job creation within five days.

In a public invitation circulating ahead of Mashujaa Day, Kirwa announced the Mashujaa Miracle Empowerment programme, scheduled for October 20, 2026, at Eldoret State Lodge.

Kirwa named President William Ruto as the chief guest in the announcement and appealed to Kenyans to provide financial support for the initiative, saying the programme seeks to address unemployment in the country.

The announcement has left some people questioning the nature of the proposed empowerment programme, its funding arrangements and how the promise of job creation within five days would be achieved.

Under the initiative, Kirwa appealed to Kenyans to contribute financially through Paybill number 522533, using account number 94 99 999.

He presented the initiative as an effort to bring Kenyans together to tackle unemployment, one of the major challenges facing young people and other job seekers across the country.

However, details regarding the number of people expected to benefit, the specific job opportunities to be created, the funding target and the implementation plan were not provided in the announcement.

It was also not independently established whether President Ruto had confirmed his attendance as chief guest or whether the proposed event had received official endorsement from State House.

The announcement has therefore raised questions about the practical arrangements behind the initiative, particularly how the promised employment opportunities would be delivered within the stated five-day period.

Kirwa's proposal comes amid continued public debate over unemployment, with young Kenyans calling for sustainable job opportunities, entrepreneurship support and initiatives that can improve their livelihoods.

Further clarification on the programme's objectives, financial accountability and implementation arrangements could help the public understand how the proposed empowerment initiative intends to achieve its stated goals.
