Cheruiyot Praises Ruto’s Development Efforts in Tiaty, Takes Swipe at Uhuru

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot has praised President William Ruto for his development efforts in Tiaty, Baringo County, as he joined the Head of State during his North Rift development tour.
Speaking in Tiaty, Cheruiyot said successive governments had neglected the area for years, arguing that President Ruto’s interventions were helping residents access essential services and infrastructure.
“Dunia hii ilikuwa imewachwa nyuma kwa miaka mingi kwa sababu marais wale walikuwa wanaona wananchi wa Tiaty kama sio watu, lakini wewe umekumbuka wananchi wa Tiaty na umewapatia heshima,” Cheruiyot said.
He called on the government to sustain development initiatives in historically marginalised areas, saying equitable access to infrastructure and public services was essential to improving the welfare of all Kenyans.
Cheruiyot also criticised former President Uhuru Kenyatta over alleged remarks that Kenyans had elected the wrong leader, arguing that life had been difficult for many citizens during Kenyatta’s presidency.
“Skia wewe bwana Uhuru, ujue siku ile wewe ulikuwa rais, si ati tulikuwa tunalamba asali tukikunywa maziwa. Maisha ilikuwa ngumu kweli kweli,” Cheruiyot said.
His remarks come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders accompanying President Ruto on development tours as he seeks a second term in office.
