Talai Forum Hails Ruto’s UN Address, Says President Spoke Boldly for Africa

The forum, which represents the Talai community in Baringo, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet and Uasin Gishu counties, said the President’s address demonstrated confidence and a clear focus on issues affecting the continent.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, Chairman John Birech said the Talai community followed the address with pride, noting that the President had used the international platform to highlight Africa’s interests and aspirations.

“The Talai people watched with immense pride as our President stood before the community of nations and spoke with confidence and clarity about Africa’s aspirations and rightful place in the world,” Birech said.

He described the address as a demonstration of statesmanship, saying President Ruto had presented Africa’s concerns with conviction and a clear message about the continent’s role in global affairs.

“His address reflected a bold vision for a continent determined to shape its own future and to participate meaningfully in the global conversations that affect its people,” Birech said.

According to the Talai Forum chairman, the President’s emphasis on Africa’s development, dignity and interests resonated with the community and demonstrated the importance of ensuring that African priorities remain central to international discussions.

“We were particularly encouraged by the President’s ability to place Africa’s concerns at the centre of a global conversation. His message carried the aspirations of millions of Africans who seek greater dignity, opportunity, equitable partnerships and a stronger voice in international affairs,” he said.

Birech said the address had also provided an opportunity for Kenya to highlight the continent’s priorities on a global platform.

“For the Talai community, this was a moment of considerable pride. We believe Kenya has an important role to play in advancing Africa’s voice, interests and development agenda,” he said.

He added that the forum welcomed the President’s efforts to position Africa’s development and interests within broader international conversations.

“We commend the President for presenting these issues with confidence and for keeping Africa’s priorities firmly within the global conversation,” Birech said.

The Talai Forum said it would continue to support efforts aimed at advancing Africa’s development, dignity and interests in international engagements.

The forum described the United Nations address as an important moment in Kenya’s and Africa’s engagement with the international community, while reaffirming its support for initiatives that seek to place African priorities at the centre of global discussions.
