Passaris Steps Up Fight for Justice for Shii

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has stepped up the push for justice for Esther Wanjiru Muthoni, popularly known as Shii, a 45-year-old mother of five who reportedly died after a brutal sexual assault in Kiamaiko, Huruma.

Passaris stood with Shii’s family and community, delivering KSh120,000 towards her burial on Saturday. The contribution included KSh50,000 from Makadara MP George Aladwa, KSh20,000 from Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch and KSh50,000 from Passaris.

She also joined the family, residents, grassroots leaders and human-rights defenders in a solidarity walk from Shii’s home to where she was found.

Passaris has since engaged senior DCI officials and KEMRI leadership to push for progress in Shii’s case and other unresolved SGBV and femicide cases.

She is calling for stronger forensic investigations, proper case tracking and accountability from the initial report through prosecution.

One suspect has been arrested in Shii’s case, but Passaris says the arrest must be the beginning of the journey to justice.
