Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination Dennis Itumbi has held discussions with media personalities Jeff Koinange and Igunza on the growth and potential of Kenya’s creative economy.

Itumbi said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on how creativity and innovation can be transformed into practical opportunities for young people and other players in the sector.

In a statement, Itumbi said the trio had a “great conversation” focused on the creative economy, with Koinange and Igunza bringing ideas, energy and fresh perspectives to the discussions.

He also reflected on his long-standing relationship with the two media personalities, saying they took time to retrace their journey since they first met more than a decade ago.

“A lot has changed since then, but one thing remains true: ideas matter, and when we turn them into action, possibilities become opportunities,” Itumbi said.

The meeting comes amid growing government attention to Kenya’s creative economy, with the sector increasingly being viewed as an avenue for employment, entrepreneurship and economic growth, particularly among young people.

Itumbi’s office is tasked with coordinating presidential special projects and initiatives relating to the creative economy, among other responsibilities.

The discussions with Koinange and Igunza are expected to contribute to ongoing conversations on how Kenya can better support creatives, innovators and media practitioners while creating opportunities for talent to translate into sustainable livelihoods.
